Interior designer Orlando Soria broke up with his ex and needed a fresh start in his personal life and his art. He started with his new home, in West Hollywood, California. Free now to pursue his ideals, he has painted his bedroom a light pink(Benjamin Moore’s Your Truly), guest bedroom a dark blue(Benjamin Moore’s New Providence Navy)and has given the kitchen and living room soft tones with pops of color. A favorite shape of Soria’s is the Act Up triangle, so it appears in several different ways throughout his home. Altogether, this home is comfortable, enjoyable place that can lead to rest and innovation.
- Interior design has a significant effect on feelings. Negative or harmful life events cause distress but starting over in a new space designed to taste helps in recovering.
- Reupholstering is a technique resulting in a unique piece to fit any personality. It may or may not be cheaper than buying new but it adds an individualistic flair.
- Interior decorating does not have to follow any rules except the person living in the home. Society’s rules and expectations stop at the door. Design a home to be unique and suited to the homeowner.
“One of the things that makes interior design so powerful is its ability to affect how we feel.”
