Perhaps it isn’t your home design that is a bit “off” but the amount of stuff you have. Reducing the number of items in a room removes distractions and brings out the design you are trying to feature.
Decluttering, however, can be difficult and the overwhelming size of the task may made it difficult to get started. If this is the case, start with one room. Go back to what the overall thought was for the room and take everything that doesn’t fit, out of the room.
Once you have one room done, you’ll surely have the motivation for the rest of your home.
- While de-cluttering can be overwhelming, seeing one room emerge can empower you to go forward faster.
- To begin, decide what the room’s purpose and theme is actually supposed to be, to develop a plan.
- Add punch, personality and fun, without putting in a lot of things that are small and need dusting, cleaning and rearranging.
“If you feel like the amount of things in your home are not showing the true value of the design that you want in your home, maybe it’s time to live with less. For rooms that require a lot more things to be kept. Consider closed storage with drawers and cabinets that you can’t see through.”
